Faith

With the meteoric rise of technology, as the world gets smaller and smaller and people get more and more connected. We now have e-mail chats, orkut, facebook, myspace.....(the list goes on and on...!) through which we can be connected to anyone and geographical demographics be damned!

But the more connected we get, the farther we get from ourselves. Most people will not agree with me over this but if anyone reflects on it..they will realize that this is true! Give it a thought yourself, when was the last time you did nothing but just sat down and reflect upon your life? We fit so many things in our schedule like studies, parties, friends, work outs (poor sods!) and even yoga!! But where is the time for retrospection? To understand your actions and learn from their consequences is necessary to grow emotionally but sadly, these are thought of as brooding activities and are avoided!

Maybe this is the reason why so many of us feel so lost, that we constantly feel the need for the presence of others to assure ourselves. We consciously try and reach out to religion and courses like "Art of living" while sub-consciously we are just trying to reinforce our weakening faith.

Faith is defined as the acceptance of anything without proof. In my view, its much like love, only in the latter case you trust a person. So what happens when your faith is weakened? From my experience that is when doubt creeps in. Doubt is like a black hole inside your heart, which swallows every other feeling that you may have and leaves behind a big black empty vacuum.
That is when you start to question everything and everyone, including yourself. It is at a time like this that we must pray, pray to be stronger and most of all pray for the strength to accept what we cannot change.

Almost everyone I know, years for approval from others to their attention to feel special; but in reality, for something or someone to be special, one just needs to believe that it is special.
Maybe, thats what we all need to do...just believe!!!!
